Superbowl of a Week!

Hello my friends. I hope all is well with each and every one of you. This week for me has been pretty good. Good grades... good weight loss and my Grandmother is doing better. She had double pneumonia, but the doctors think they caught it in time. She is drinking tea and eating popsicles now!

I was worried about my medical classes this term, but they seem to be easier than I expected. I have had 2 tests in anatomy and physiology, and 2 tests in medical terminology, and I have gotten 100% on them all... so Yay! My other classes don't seem to be to tough either. I like school, but I really can't wait to be done and have a real full time job where I can actually make some real money. I made a little discovery about my classmates the other day. I knew that there was quite a range in ages between the youngest guy and the oldest guy but I guess I didn't realize how big a difference there was. Ok so, I'm 35 years old (in February). The youngest guy in class is 10 years younger than me. But the oldest guy graduated from high school 6 years before I was born! So yeah, there is quite a spread. But I'll have to hand it to all of them. They all do a great job!
On the weight loss front I have managed to lose another 2.6 pounds which brings me to.... can I have a drum roll please...baaadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadada...... 11 POUNDS!!!!  Yep I broke the 10 pound mark! WOOHOO! I'm pretty proud of myself for that. I just gotta keep going! A mere 177.7 pounds to go to meet my goal! I just have to keep reminding myself that I did not gain all this weight in a week, I'm not going to lose it in a week.
And lastly, I am pretty stoked that not only did I get to watch the Steelers game today, but I got to watch my Steelers WIN and make it to the Superbowl! Here we go! Want to know a neat quirky thing I heard today? This is the 7th year that #7 (Ben Roethlisberger, our quarterback) has played for the Steelers and if they win it will be the 7th Superbowl win for the team...777. Aaaaannnnd, they won the AFC championship today which is Myron "Cope" Kopelman's (January 23, 1929 – February 27, 2008) Birthday! Cope was the voice of the Steelers radio broadcasts for 35 years. Cope also played a big role in the creation of the Terrible Towel.

And Then There Were Two

Well week number two of Operation Weight Watchers is in the books. I lost 1.2 pounds this week, which puts my total loss at 8.4 pounds. Not as good as I had hoped for this week but a loss is a loss. I kinda think I shot myself in the foot at the end of the week by not drinking enough water. When I don't drink enough my body seems to hold onto what it does have in the form of water retention! GREAT! Note to self... drink more water this week.

Also, Melissa and I went tubing on Thursday at Peek n' Peak and I have been sore for two days now. I think this also has something to do with only losing 1.2 pounds. I think my body is holding onto water to help repair my muscles that are aching oh so much. My stomach muscles feel like I did 300 sit ups! UGH! But at least I had fun. Melissa...not so much. She has issues with being around alot of people and that is exactly what was at the tubin' hill... A LOT of people. So while she didn't have a horrible time, I don't think she enjoyed herself as much as I was hoping she would. But the day still was a lot of fun because I got to spend the whole day with my wife. School was canceled because the teachers had mandatory meeting, and I was off of work, so we drove around and took snow pictures, had some lunch in Lakewood, NY and then headed to the Peak for the tubing fun! Anytime I have that I can spend with her will always be fun! Well...that's pretty much all I have for this week except for YAY STEELERS! Way to pull off a win!

The first week of 2011

So the first week of 2011 has been a good one. My wife and I started Weight Watchers, the third term of school has started, and we had Christmas with my dad.
Let me start with school. We only had school 4 days this week, Tuesday through Friday. Tuesday I went to school and met all my teachers for this term, got my books, did a little learnin', and came home. Really late on Tuesday night I started feeling kinda crappy. I spent the next 2 days being sick and missed 2 days of the 4 day week. I felt like I missed so much. Friday, I just kept feeling so far behind...not a good feeling! I'm sure I'll catch up though.
Christmas with dad was nice. He had a been ill for the first part of the week, so we had to keep delaying our gift exchange. We had dinner, exchanged gifts, and just chatted for a little while. He got me a nice cooling lap-pad for my laptop that has awesome speakers built in. He also got me a coffee thermos, travel mug, and a book I had been wanting.
Finally, we have a weight loss update. With school and work it's been really hard to use all my daily points. And the days I was sick I didn't really eat anything except soup and crackers but, even with all that, I still lost 7.2 pounds! I attribute a little of that to being sick, but hey, weight loss is weight loss!
So friends, until next week, have a great day and be happy and healthy!

Here's to the New Year

This is me a few months ago at the family reunion...
For Christmas my wife requested the newest Weight Watchers program... The Points Plus System. So of course I got it for her as well as a kit for myself. I have decided its high time I take a step toward a healthier future. One of my gifts from a friend for Christmas was a gift card from Walmart so I decided to put it to good use and I bought a new scale. Well I'm ashamed to say that I am at 377 pounds and that is just not OK! I have never really been the kind of person that let my weight bother me, but I feel like if I don't take care of it now I may never do it. I'm not getting any younger you know.

There will be no more of this unless I save the Points for it!

I have set my ultimate goal for weight loss to be half the man I am now. I'm shooting to lose 188.5 pounds. Yes I know, this is going to take me a few years but that is ok. I didn't gain this weight over night so it's not going to go away over night. But I am determined to lose it. Before our wedding we did Weight Watchers and I lost about 60 pounds but I have gained 25 of that back. I did it before, I CAN do it again!

A Lot to Tell...

Well I really have a lot to tell but I promised myself I would try to keep my posts short so let me start by telling you what lead me to decide to change my career path.
My wife and I got married in October of 2008. Three weeks before the day we were to wed I got fired from my job as a Manager at Domino's Pizza. The day after I got fired I was working for their competition, Little Caesars. The wedding went off without a hitch even though that happened and it was the most wonderful day of my life.
Skip forward one year and it's our first anniversary. I was a manager at Caesars and was having an issue with my assistant. Because of this issue I had to suspend my assistant for a week. The week of my anniversary. The owner of the company actually suggested that because we were missing an assistant and because I was the one that suspended him that I should skip my vacation even though we had 9 other stores that help could have been borrowed from. All the reservations at Mermaid Cottages on Tybee Island had already been made so there was no way it could be put off, and since it was my very first anniversary I really wasn't willing to change the plans.

The day he made that suggestion was the day... I decided that my 12 year love affair with the restaurant business was over. I had already missed too many family events because of that damn industry. I was tired of putting my family after my job. We began the search for a new career that I would enjoy, would make enough money to support our little family, and would have a little more predictable hours. That's then we stumbled on a career as a Biomedical Electronics Technician. So the search for a school began....
